The paper examines several probable failures in the LSS – from data collection to data analyses to modeling – and the esults are a valuable input to the LNT model debate. First, even if all the RERF data and analyses are correct, we show, perhaps for the first time, that the RERF analyses within the LSS display solid evidence of being just plain wrong. Their own analyses of their data do not support the LNT model at low doses. Then, we examine the data and find that the RERF likely distorts or mischaracterizes the data it uses, which tends to induce readers and users to assume the LNT model must be true. It focuses extensively and almost exclusively on modeling (rarely mentioning biology) to make the acceptance of the LNT concept easier, and our paper shows three areas of likely misreporting or possibly omitted reporting.
